HAWKE’S BAY HUNT

Second Meet of Season at Glenelg The second meet of the Hawke’s Bay Hunt at Glenelg on Tuesday was held in the wettest conditions possible to imagine. However, a field of 25 turned out and enjoyed grand hunting in spite of the voutlier. Mrs Tait’s lunch warmed everyone sufficiently to enable them to forget the weather. Hounds had scarcely moved from the homestead when they put up several pheasants and two hares. The first run was solid aud turned after going down the Marne creek towards Waitangi, I hen running back to Mr Paul Ashby's and from there to Glenelg plantation. Hounds roused him again and there and followed up the terrace country on to the Ashby-Sutherland boundary. On the point of killing the hunt started a fresh hare in the middle of Mr Sutherland’s which provided a wonderful run across towards the golf links twice, then down the valley towards Mi Sutherland’s, then up towards Kereru, finally crossing the main Kereru road and still another road double, the river road. The Master gave up there, as horses had all had enough, and a horse that 1 began the day carrying 13 stone, would be carrying an extra two stone of mois-

ture at the finish. The field returned via Mr Harry Simmond’s to the Taits’, where the family again extended muchenojoyed warmth and hospitality. Those following were:— The Master, on Bobs; Deputy-Mas-ters, Mr A. P. White on Laura, Mr J. N.
