"Pilots are warned that, as from June 15, 1936, tho licence for the Napier Aerodrome, Westshore, will be suspended until further notice,” runs a communication from the Controller of Civil Aviation to all aiiports iu New Zealand.' Tho notice continues: “ Until such time as this ground is again fit for use, all aircraft should use the alternative aerodrome known as ‘Beacons.’ This aerodrome is situated 40(1 yards northwest of Westshore township, and is licensed for all types of aircraft.” This is the official notice of the decision of the Public Works Department to close the Napier Aerodrome, and it is expected that between six and twelve months will elapse before the 'drome is again used by planes. At present levelling and improvement work is beingundertaken there.
