A Famous Ball.
A famous cricket ball has just been discovered in a rain-water spout at the Sheffield pavilion in England. It was the one used by Verity in tho Yotksbtre v. South Alrieaus match at Sheffield last year when 11. 11. Cameron, tliq great South African batsman, who lias since died, hit him for three 4.-. and three U’s m an over. The fifth ball he hit clean out ot the ground and it remained lost until now. ft has oecn returned to the makers, Messrs. Wisden, who are including it in their museum of bats and balls. Wood, the Yorkshire wicket-keeper, at the end of this historic over, said to Verity: “Don’t worry. You've got him in two minds-he doesn't know whether to hit you lor a 4 or a 6!” Jim Ferrier Fined. As a sequel to the motoi accident at Carnoustie, it- Scotland, Jim Ferrier was fined £2 and had his licence endorsed toi careless driving Ihe prosecutor remarked that it was not a bad case. Ferrier's admirers in Australia will hope that the careless driving will not be extended to the golf course. A struv drive at the 35th hole lust year lust him the Australian open champion* ship.
