Herd-Testing Costs Will Rise The operation of the Government’s scheme of guaranteed prices will result in a rise m herd-testing fees paid by members of the Dominion Group Herd-Testing Federation, stated the president, Air G. 11. Bell, at the federation’s annual general meeting in Napier yesterday He deplored the necessity for a rise, but declared that it was inevitable. Air Bell made reference to the valued assistance given to the federation by the Government and various organisations during the past year, and to the keen interest taken in the federation's work by all delegates. “The matter of guaranteed -prices is to be put into operation shortly, and we are locking forward to muchneeded assistance—just what, we don’t yet know,” he said. “We realise that our overhead charges are to be greater, and while we deplore having to raise the herd-testing fees to our members we do feel that this is inevitable. But 1 am hopeful that the rise will not be one that will be detrimental to herdtesting generally.” The federation had had much valuable co-operation and assistance from the Dairy Board, the Department of Agriculture and the Government, and Air Bell voiced the federation's appreciation of this help. He also 'referred to the good work done during the past year by the federation’s secretary, Al C. Al. Hume, and his staff. The satisfactory attendance of delegates at the annual meeting was an indication of the keen interest taken in the movement as a whole, and this had been a factor in so much having been achieved since the last annual meeting at Palmerston North.
