Waipukurau Beat Waipawa at Waipukurau MARGIN OF 12 POINTS Scorers,—Waipukurau (15) : Sullivan (try), Gibson (try), M. Ferguson (try), Lane (try), McKenzie (try). Waipawa (3); Rupuliu (penalty). The conditions were bad. A strong westerly wind and rain swept the field. Ihe ground was wet and slippery and a greasy ball spoilt all attempts at back passing movements. The game was a ragged, unexciting forward one with Waipukurau proving too heavy and strong for their opponents who played the first half a man short. The teams were: —Waipukurau (Blue): McKay, Watson, Gibson, McKenzie, Ferguson, Carney, Smales, Lane, M. Ferguson, Petersen, McDougal, Johnston, Brassel, Sullivan and Archer. Waipawa (Yellow): Rupuhu, Gardner, Hopkins, Bibby, Uru, French, Hercock, Lovatt, Collett, Mahr, Holtt, Gair, Hudson and Osbourne Waipukurau from the kick-off attacked strongly and within a few minutes of the start Sullivan went over. Tho kick by T. Ferguson failed. Waipukurau 3; Waipawa nil. From the kick-off Waipukurau again took the offensive and Gibson scored alter a series of scrums. This was followed shortly after by two more scores by M, Ferguson and Lane. The ball was heavy and none of the tries were converted. Half-time was called with the score Waipuurau 12, Waipawa nil. After the kick-off McKennie scored for 'Waipukurau. A short time later Rupuliu kicked a penalty from near the Blue line and time was called with the scores: Waipukurau 15, Waipawa 3. Mr A. Smales refereed. The result of the junior game was Takapau A 15, Waipukurau 8. GAMES AT WAIPAWA. Saturday was far from an ideal day lor football, rain falling heavily most of the afternoon, and the wind blowing with hurricane force. On Coronation Park Waipawa, the home junior team was defeated by the To Aute juniors by 28 points to nil. Playing with the wind in the first spell the Te Aute team secured the whole of their points, and after the change over were able to prevent the local team from crossing the line. Mr E.
