A 18-year-old schoolboy, holder of the boys’ golf championship, John Langley, defeated in the semi-final of the English amateur championship Cyril Tooley, winner of almost as many championships as his opponent has years, in one of the finest championship matches seen. Tooley was four down at the fourteenth and won the next three, but Langiey imperturbably putted at the eighteenth, halvin -„the hole. He meets in the final H. Bentley, Walker Cup player and ex-holder of the French and German championships, who in the semi-final defeated C.
