NAPIER GUILD

The literary and dramatic circle of the Napier Townswomen’s Guild met in St. John’s Schoolroom on Thursday afternoon. Pending the election of the new committee Mrs Spackman took the chair.

Miss Fannin was elected leader and the following ladies form the new committee: Mesdames Christie, Bruce Barnett, Hansen, Everett, O’Connell, Misses Alartin and Fannin.

Airs Barnett read a most interesting paper on the life and works of Airs Aphra Behn, the first English authoress. Mrs R. C. Wright gave two recitations that were greatly enjoyed.

A play entitled ‘‘ A Little Bit of Life” was read by members of the circle, those taking part being Airs Smith, Mrs O’Connell, Airs Fred Smith, Mrs Barnett, Aliss Hopkins, Aliss Fannin, Mrs Knaggs Mrs G. Madigan.
