The Poppy Day appeal at Hamilton yesterday realised £225, compared with £2Ol last year.—Press Assn. The case of W. D. Lysnar v. the National Bank of New Zealand was continued in the Court of Appeal today. Mr Johnstone concluded his address for the respondent bank and was followed by Mr Powles, who also appeared for the bank. (Proceeding.)— Press Assn. Despite extensive inquiries, the winner of the “Happier Days” art union has not yet been discovered, says a Waimate telegram. Several persons have been rumoured to be the lucky speculators, but on being interviewed all have denied this. The Governor-General to-day presented to the Auckland Point School, in the presence of the assembled primary school children of the city, the Navy League Flag, which was accepted by Mr. Masefield, the school’s headmaster. ’Mr. Darrosh, secretary of the Navy League, handed the flag to His Excellency on behalf of the Wellington branch of the League, the Auckland Point School having enrobed over ICO members of the League in the first year of membership.—Press Assn. The questions of wages, overtime and hours of work were referred to the Arbitration Court by the Conciliation Council at Christchurch to-day when the application of the Amalgamated Engineering Union for a Dominion Award covering motor garage employees was heard.—Press Assn.
