Society Holds Its Annual Meeting VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR The fifth annual meeting of the Hastings and District Scots’ Society, held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Market street, on Monday night, was a wellattended gathering, and the business was gone into with the same lively spirit and enthusiasm as at meetings held hi previous years. Mr Lord and Mr \( arreu have capably supplied the music lor the dancing, ail'd tile M.C.'s have carried out then duties courteously and successfully. Personally 1 wish to thank every member ol the society lur then loyalty and courtesy during my term ol office. The chieftains and councillors have given wrj i<t»miui'services to tns members, and 1 thank them toi then generous and kindly help tu me. It has been a very great pleasure to work with them, and our relations have always been most cordial. The society will go on and prosper while we have such loyal memuers. I should like to thank one and all for their confidence in me, and to acknowledge the splendid help given me by my wile at all times. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. After a lively discussion on the balance-sheet and other business, being disposed of, the election ot officebearers was proceeded with. There being no othei nominations, Mr H.. W. C. Baird retains the office ol chief, the members voicing their approval «»»d satisfaction by a round ot applause. Other officers elected were:—Chidtains, Messrs B. Farquharson, P. J. Priest, E. V.
