MALIGNED ALSATIAN

Enough of Them in N.Z. WELLINGTON, April 21. To protest against legislation restriding the ownership of Alsatian dogs, a deputation from the National Alsatian Defence League waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry. Members of the deputation said that Alsatians had been much maligned in New Zealand. To pass legislation aiming at the extermination of the breed was considered to be unwarranted interference with the liberty of the subject. The Minister said his present feeling was that there were enough Alsatians in New Zealand for the time being. He believed -there was no consistency of temperament in the Alsatian. So far as the Government was concerned, nothing rash would be done, and anything contemplated would be viewed from the commonsense point of view.
