An interesting game of Rugby .was witnessed on the Otane Recreation Ground on Saturday, when Waipawa defeated the local fifteen by nine points to eight. Considering that the Otane team is comprised of comparatively young players, and that they had not previously played together, they gave a good account of themselves, and showed that, with a few games together, they will improve considerably. T)re forwards played a very solid game but their heavier opponents wore them down, and during the latter part of the second spell were continually on the defensive. Sound play by Higgs end Beiliss kept the big Waipawa men at bay, and the final whistle sounded with Waipawa victors by the narrow margin of one point. . A meeting of the social committee was held on Friday evening, When final arrangements for the dance which takes place on Thursday next were completed. No stone has been left unturned to make this function a success and there is every indication that the committee’s efforts will be well .rewarded.
