A BRIGHTER TONE

Improved Market For Store Sheep A brighter tone with an improved market prevailed for store sheep at Stortford Lodge yesterday when all useful linos met with keen competition. The outstanding entry was a draft of 1000 wethers from Tutira Station, which made up to 26/3. The draft was in extra forward condition. Several other peris of wethers were offered, and these appreciated in value up to 1/-. Lambs also found a keen market., with shorn entries making over 18/-. The market can be gauged from the following values for selected entries:— A draft of 474 well-grown 2-tooth wethers, in good store order, made 23/4. A draft of 302 2-tooth wethers, including a few 4-tooths, a well-grown and attractive line, made 23/6. On account of Tutira Station, a line of 324 large framed and in extra forward condition wethers, an exceptional hardy entry, made 26/3. Also on account of same vendors, a line of 587 wethers from tho same draft, another outstanding entry, sold readily at 25/2. On account of Lune Bros., Waipuna Station, Puketitiri, a line of 254 4-th wethers, well-grown and well woolled, in splendid forward store order, made 24/11. A line of 271 2-th wethers, wellgrown and hardy, in good store condition, made 23/1. A back-country lino of 240 2-th wethers, well framed and in good order, made in two lots 22/10 and 22/8. A pen of 280 woolly wether lambs, in fair store order, made 16/2. A bid of 23/6 secured a line of 303 mixed aged wethers in from the back country, in gnod store condition.

On account of Waipoapoa Station, a line of 150 Whiteface shorn lambs, well grown and in fresh, forward order, realised 18/1. For a pen of 152 small framed backcountry 2-th wethers, in light store condition, 20/6 was offered. The line was a useful carry-over entry. A draft of 377 shorn whiteface wether lambs, well grown and in fresh order, made 16/9. On account of Mr B. C. Chambers, Potutu, a line of 128 well grown forward wethers, carrying a good slipo, .realised 24/2. A line of 120 Southdown lambs, rather small, but hardy, made 17/4. In from the back country, a pen of 81 2-tooth wethers, well framed and sturdy, made 23/-. Down from I’utorino, a line of 121 wether lambs made a good sale at 16/10. On account of F. Holt, Tutira, a pen of 61 wother Jambs, in fresh condition, made 19/2. On account of the same vender, a pen of 85 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes, including a few older ones in good store condition, made 25/6. On account of Mr F. Kendall, Pakowhai, a pen of 55 ewes, fairly well woolled, made 18/4. A pen of 86 fat and forward well grown woolly lambs realised 21/6. On account of Mr E. M. H. Beamish, Kohatunui, a pen of 100 well grown wether lambs made 19/1.
