STATE THEATRE “ANNIE OAKLEY” Many of the striking sequences depicted in “Annie Oakley,” Barbara Stanwyck’s starring vehicle, closing at the State to-night, are based on actual occurrences in the colourful life of the Ohio girl who became the world’s greatest markswoman in the eighties Even Annie Oakley’s romance smacks of realism. As in real life, the film depicts how she marries the man she meets in her first exhibition match at the Cincinnati Gun Club. Her romance with this opponent is traced against the colourful background of “Annie Oakley.” There will be a special late session at 10.30 to-night. Others in the cast are Claude Allister, Benita Hume and Kenneth Kove. “Student Tour” has as stars Nelson .Eddy and Charles Butterworth. Music plays an important part in “Student Tour,” especially since the picture serves to introduce a new dance rhythm in the form of the “Carlo.” Gorgeously staged in a casino in Monte Carlo, this number is danced to fivefour time, something said to be absolutely new in popular music.
