EMPIRE CONFERENCE

Hopes of Meeting at Time of Coronation TRADE DISCUSSIONS (By Telegrsph—Press Assn., Copyrignt.) (Received 9,11.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 8. In the House of Commons Sir Hugh P, A. Hurd asked whether the Coronation could be used as an opportunity for an Imperial Conference, and whether the Government had communicated with the Dominions in reference to the bearing of renewed foreign trade agreements upon the proposed revision of the Ottawa agreements. The Marquess of Hartington replied: “We are hoping, if possible, to arrange an Imperial Conference for the time of the Coronation. In this connection communications are now passing with Dominion Governments. “It is the practice to inform Hie Do minions when trade negotiations with foreign countries are held in order to give them an opportunity to express their views if they think that their interests will be affected.”
