Early Auckland Church.
Auckland’s first Presbyterian church, St. Andrew’s, was opened 86 year* ago yesterday. There had been a Presbyterian congregation as far back as 1843, and it was formally established in 1847, the year in which the construction of the church was commenced. The building as originally erected wa» a comparatively plain structure, and cost £3500. The tower and other important additions were built in 1882. The Rev. A. G. Pantou was the first minister.
