“INJUSTICE” TO SOCCER
Not Allowed at Napier Boys’ High School ASSOCIATION’S COMPLAINT Mention was made at a meeting of Association football enthusiasts in Napier last evening of the restrictions placed upon Soccer football at the Napier High Schoo], and it was decided to make representations for these restrictions to bo .removed, so giving the pupils the freedom to play what sport they desired. Tho matter was raised by Mr. J. Fairelough, who explained that last year the Napier Intermediate School had a strong Soccer team, but this year the majority of those’players were now attending tho Napier High School and there had been complaint that they were not allowed to play Soccer. The restrictions placed on the boys was severely criticised by a number of those present at the meeting. The chairman, Mr. J. Stickland, thought that if the association went about the matter in the right manner and through the proper channels something could be done to remedy the injustice.
“It does not seem right to me that » sports master should dictate to tho boys what game they should play,’’ he said. “There is plenty of room for all sports to be played.”
After considerable discussion it was decided that Messrs. G. B. Young and F. Nicholson be delegated to interview the school authorities with a view to having the restrictions removed.
