SWIMMING

Heretaunga Executive Meets CLOSING OF THE BATHS The weekly meeting of the Heretaunga Life-saving and Swimming Club was held last night. Mr L. J. Fisher presided. It was decided that no further club carnivals be held, and that the aggregate series be declared closed. Messrs Little and Graham were appointed a sub-committee to report to next meeting on the values and number of places to be distributed in each section. After the next meeting a full list of all cup and trophy winners is to be published. It was decided to close the baths immediately for evening swimming, while next Tuesday was fixed as the closing date of the baths for all swimming. It was decided to transport free of cost by special bus at 7 o’clock tonight the Heretaunga team to compete in Napier. A sub-committee tabled the proposed conditions governing the awarding of the new Heretaunga Cup, virtually an “elan prize.’’ The conditions were adopted. This award, as well as that of the Hogan Cup, is to be made next meeting. Arising out of the aggregates, two swim-offs are necessary to decide the winners nf the gold club badge in the junior boys’ and women’s sections, and it was decided that these be held at 7 p.m. sharp on Friday next over a 50 yards handicap. The competitors concerned are J. Stinson and A. West, and Misses J. Campbell and J. McKay.
