ATTRACTING TOURISTS
Neglect of Hawke’s Bay GOVERNMENT PUBLICITY Several members of tho Hastings Chamber of Commerce said last night that in their opinion Urn province of Hawke's Bay was not receiving its due in the itineraries laid down by officers of the Government Tourist Department. Appropriate action is to be taken in the direction of asking the department to send an officer to collect material for publication in future brochuresAir. W. A. Whitlock introduced the subject by saying that this province was receiving scant attention from the department, and that he believed some, concerted move would help to rectify the situation. Other members agreed, and added that many visitors to this province were not made aware of the many pleasant places in Hawke’s Bay. After discussion upon the different points, it was resolved, on the motion of Air. J. Wilson, to write to the department, remarking the advantages of Hawke’s Bay and pointing out that this province should be included in itineraries drawn up by the department. It was decided also to ask the department. to send one of its officers to Hawke's Buy to secure material lor inclusion in a future publication by the department. Alembers of the Chamber would be pleased to co-operate with the officer sent to Hastings for this purpose.
