PORANGAHAU SPORTS

Very Successful Gathering From Our Own Correspondent PORANGAHAU, March 16. The Porangahau Sports Club held the annual meeting on the local sports ground on Saturday and it was an outstanding success form every point of view, there being a good attendance nf .the public, and excellent fields in ali events. In addition, the weather con-, ditions were perfect, after having threatened for many days to mar the proceedings. A most enoyable day was spent by all. The presence of competitors from all parts of the district, in spite of sports attractions in other districts, added interest to the fixture, for the success of which, those in charge of the various official duties must assume the fullest credit. Great credit is also duo to the secretary, Air W. Snelling, wlio carried out his duties in a very capable manner. It was a splendidlylun meeting, and the many arrangements necessary for its success were bandied in the ablest possible manner.

The horse events were up to the usual high standard, and some excellent jumping was witnessed during the day. All the judges’ decisions throughout the day proved most popular.
