Air Service Inaugurated

Ten bags of air mail, aggregating 75 pounds, were sent this morning by Union Airways liner in the first regular air mail from this centre. Twenty pounds were received already bagged from Auckland by the limited express, two bags each for Blenheim, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin and one each for Timaru and Oatnaru.
There was a small official gathering al, the aerodrome, including Mr J Hodgens, M.P., Mr A. E. Mansion], Mayor, and Mr N. S. Fullu, chairman of Union Airways. Brief speeches were made prior to the plane's departure The chief postmaster, Mr Black, handed over the bags. The All Black footballer, It. M. McKenzie, assisted in the stowing of the mail.
