8.8. C. and the Queen Mary The six most envied men at the 8.8. C. are R. H. Eckersley, John Snagge of 0.8. Department; John Watt, producer and R. H. Wood, engineer-in charge 0.8., and two assistant engineers. They are going on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary to New York, to be in charge of 8.8. C. broadcasting arrangements. There will be twenty-eight points wired for microphones, including main ballroom, first-class dining-room, first class lounge, verandah grill, covering main dance band on sun deck, swimming pool, embarkation deck at Southampton and covering the deck for disembarkation in New York and the crow’s nest.
