A product of the well-known Aberdeen Angus cattie breeder, Mr T. Slay, of Ocean Beach, was successful in annexing a championship award at the Southland A. and P. Society’s show this week. The animal, Mars of Matanihi, by Prince of Patapihi, out of the Countess of Matupihi, was entered by \V. E. Hunt (Wallacetown) in the two-year-old bull class nnj gained first award and championship. The final general meeting of the Central School Jubilee organisation will he held in the Oddfellows’ Hall at 7.30 o'clock on Wednesday evening next. December 18. Henry Cotton was described by S. Brews, the South African professional golfer, as the best golfer of them all, including the famous American players. He thinks Cotton’s methods and stroke play vastly superior to that of the Americans. Brews described Allred Perry, the new open champion, as ‘‘unorthodox, but a sound player and deserving of the title." It is expected that the 1930 New Zealand golf championship meeting will be held at Hamilton and there may also be visits from overseas pla.'ers during next year. It is reported that J. H.
