WEDDING

Palmer—Ovens

The wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Hastings, by the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw, on Wednesday evening, of Helen, daughter of Airs and the late Air Ovens, of Scotland, and Alfred, youngest son of Airs am l the late Air Palmer, of Napier. Tho bride, who entered the church while the Wedding Alarch was being played, wore a gown ot ivory satin beaute, tiglit-fitting to the knees and then haring to the hem. The neckline was cowled, and the sleeves were fashioned to match. Her veil of tulle, hand-embroidered in gold, fell gracefully to form a train. Sue carried an ivory-bound prayer-boon with streamers and orange blossom. Mrs Jim Brunton was matron-of-honour, her floral frock being in tones of red with a coatee to match. She wore a large picture hat and carried a houauet ot sweet peas and maidenhair fern,

Little Alyrtle Brunton made a dainty Uower-girl in a Kate Greenaway frock ot palest green crepe-de-chine. She wore a pink ribbon hairband and earned a posy of pink sweet peas. The bridegroom’s gift to the matron-of-honour was a string of lotus pearls, and to the Hower-girl a green diamondcut crystal necklace. The duties of best man were abbv carried out by Air James Brunton, jur, The reception following the ceremony was held at the home of Air and Airs Brunton, where a very jolly time was spent by the guests, and the bride cut the handsome three-tiered weddingcake which she had made When Air and Airs Balmer left on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a brown crepe-de-chine frock with white hat and brown accessories, her handbag being the bridegroom’s gift. Among the guests were: Airs Palmer (the bridegroom’s mother), Air and Airs Tong (the latter a sister of the bridegroom), Air and Mrs Attwood (a sister of the bridegroom), Air and Airs L. Fargher, Aliss Joan Brunton, Aliss Pat Williams, Aliss Lil Birch, Airs Swiggs, Airs Hemingsou, Alt D. Reed, Air Colin Newrick and Air Charlie tardy.
