Steady Selling al Hastings

GOOD LAMBS SELL WELL

There was a moderate entry of fat sheep at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge. Prices were firm at late rates, with good demand for suitable butchers’ lines. Over-fat ewes were quiet, as were plain sorts.

Selected entries and prices paid are as follows:— A line of 43 shorn ewes, fairly grown and well finished, realised 14/6. A further line of 77 from the same property, plain and lighter in condition, made 12/10 and 12/2 in cuts.

Twenty-two well grown and weighty ewes realised 15/2. Eight blackface lambs, well grown and prime, made 26/1, under good competition. A further seven realised 26/5.

Two well grown and finished maiden ewes, medium to prime, sold at 19/6, Two well grown nice quality ewes ma.de' 16/5. A bid of 18/- secured a draft of 63 prime quality well grown shorn ewes, alter a good run of bidding. A single prime wether sold at 22/9.

A line of 66 ewes, well grown and carrying medium to prime order realised 16/6.

Three fat woolly ewes, well grown and medium finished, sold at 22/6 Three heavier ewes realised 24/6.

An Omarunui entry of shorn ewes made 14/10 and 14/6.

A Redcliffe Station entry of 28 shorn ewes realised 14/2. Further pens made 13/7. 12/10 and 12/9. A draft of 51 ewes, shorn, fairly grown and finished, made 14/2. Four shorn wethers, medium framed and well finished, made 22/-.

Six blackface 2-th wethers, nicely grown and prime, realised 24/6.
