OBITUARY
Rev. Dr. James Gibb Tlio death has occurred of the Rev. James Gibb, D.D., at the age of 78, says a Wellington Press Association message. Dr. Gibb had been an invalid for six months, and had been confined to bed for four weeks, lie was for 18 years ministetr of the First Church at Dunedin, and went to St. John’s Presbyterian Church. Wellington, in 1903. He retired in 1926. He was prominently associated with social and public mo vein cuts and one of the acknowledged leaders of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand. Mr. Armond Haxton Advice lias been received of the death of Air. Arinond Haxton at the Musterton Hospital. Die late Mr. Arniond Haxton passdd away on Sunday. He was for several years a resident of Hastings, previously residing in the Wairarapa district, where he was born 68 years ago, and where he spent most of his life. He was residing at Hastings at the time of the earthquake disaster of 1931, and Jost his two daughters in that disaster. Mr. Haxtun’s health also suffered as the result or' these happenings and he had been declining ever since, although he bore troubles always with great fortitude. Of a quiet and unassuming nature, he naturally made many friends wherever he went. Tie was the oldest member of the A.O.F. order, Carterton Lodge, and also served as a volunteer in that town’s early Fire Brigade, The late Mr. Haxto. leaves a widow and four sons. Mr. Wilfred Haxton, ,of Napier, being the third sou.
