RUATANIWHA LODGE

Presentation to Two Members F.om Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, Oct. 28. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of the Uuataniwha Lodge of Druids held at Waipawa on Tuesday evening. I’.A. Bro. A. R. Egglestone was in the chair. There was very little business before the meeting apart from routine business, sick pay, add accounts, which were passed lor payment. The remainder of the evening was given over to a social function. Dancing was the chief pastime of the evening, and it was interspersed with the following items:—Cornet solo, Bro. R. Smart; Irish jig, Miss Stone; recitation, Miss Kemp; monologues and recitations, I’.D.P. Bro. G. J. Brotnell, The music for the dancing and the ae. eompaniments were played by Sister Hepburn. After a dainty suppei had been served by the members of the social committee, I’.A. Bro. Egglestone, in n few words, stated that the main obieet ol the social was to make a presentatinn to two members of the lodge in tin prisons of Sister P. Sparge, and Bio. Alex. Watson, who are to be mar-||-.I very shortly He said that tho nu’inbers had desired to mark this event in a fitting manner, and had organised the social, to which a few friends had been invited- Bro. stone called upon P.D.P. Bro. Bromell, as the senior officer present to make the presentation. In making the presentation of a chiming clock to Sister Spargo and Bro. Watson, Bro. Bromell extended to them the best wishes of the members of Ruataniwha Lodge lor a happy and prosperous married life. They were accorded musical honours Bro. Watson, in reply, sincerely thanked the members foi the good wishes extended to him and his future wife, and also for the very handsome pleased to assist the Lodge in any way gift. He said that he had always been and would continue to do so. Uro. W. C. F. Spargo, the secretary, was presented with a P.A. jewel, lie having passed through the P.A. chair for the second time. In calling upon Bro. Bromell to make tins presentation, Bro. Egglestone remarked that this was a new’ award, which was to be made to those officers who, after having been through the A.D. chair once, filled vacancies when they occurred. Previously recognition was only given on going through the chair the first time. Bro. Bromell, in presenting the medal, congratulated Bro. Spargo upon obtaining this award. Bro. Spargo briefly replied, thanking members for the presentation. The A. 1).. Bro. Harrington expressed pleasuie nt seeing such a large gather, iug of members and friends, and expressed the hope than everyone had exppripuced a good time. Dancing was then continued till .liortly after midnight.
