Hawke’s Bay Team Selected
TO PLAY THREE GAMES The Hawke’s Bay Rugby colts team will leave Napier on Friday next on a tour of Taupo, Thames Valley and King Country playing three games. The team will be as follows:— Backs: Simon (Celtic;, Allen (M. 8.0.8. Nelson (Hastings), D. Wright (Hastings), R. Wright (Technical Old Boys), jane (Technical Old Boys), G. Rogers (Dannevirkej. Forwards: Townsend (Celtic), C. C- Wilson (Central Hawke’s Bay), Armstrong (M. 8.0.8. Bowman (Technical Old Boys), McKenzie (Pirates), Kirschberg (Hastings), Exeter (M. 8.0.8. J. Mataira (Wairoa). An additional three backs and three forwards have yet to be selected. Any of the above players unavailable aie asked to notify the secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union immediately.
The team will assemble at the Hawke’s Bay Motor Company’s garage, Dickens street, Napier, at 1.15 p.m. on Friday next. The team will meet Taupo at Taupo on Saturday next, then travel to Te Aroha on the following Monday, where a game against Thames Valley will be played on Wednesday, September 25. The tourists will travel the next day to Ohakune, where they will meet King Country on the Saturday, September 28. The team will return home the next day, Sunday. Each played is to provide himself with a full set of training gear. Mr. B. Tweedie will be manager of the team.
INTER-ISLAND NOMINATION
Peter Smith, Hawke’s Bay Rugby representative and Maori All Black, has been nominated by Mr Norman McKenzie as a forward for the North Island team to play the South Island on October 5. Four backs and four forwards have previously been nominated from Hawke’s Bay for the team.
