LOCAL FRUIT MARKETING
Standardisation Urged (By Telegraph—Press Association.* WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. There was a further discussion on local fruit marketing at the Dominion conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, Ltd., yesterday. The conference approved the principle of compulsory standardisation and urged its adoption as early as possible. The conference approved the setting up of a committee representative of the federation, tho Fruit Board, and the Horticultural Division of tho Department of Agriculture to give effect where possible and desirable to the findings of the conference and other matters affecting the industry, and especially the improvement of the local marketing of fruit. The local marketing control of fruit will not be a matter for the committee. Lectures were given by Mr F. Firth and Mr F. R. Callaghan, the latter reviewing the work done under the control of the fruit research committee.
