ZUYDER ZEE

Successful Reclamation (By Telegraph—Press Association ) AUCKLAND, Sept. 14. Among the sights which impressed the New Zealand farmers touring Britain and the Continent, according to Mr. H. D. M. Haszard, former Commissioner of Crown Lands in Canterbury, deputy loader of the party, was the tremendous reclamation of the Zuyder Zee in Holland. Despite the present low prices of produce, this undertaking was made to pay by the intense cultivation of fertile reclaimed land by highly industrious people. In Denmark the land was less fertile, but greatly improved by cultivation and topdressing. Agriculture in England, despite Government assistance, was still backward. There was a good market for New Zealand pork in England.
