B.M.S. MEETING

Combined Group Evening A combined group meeting of the Hastings branch of tho British Music Society was held at Woodford House, Havelock North, last evening. The activities for the coming season were discussed, and circle leaders were chosen. The gramophone-group leader is Airs. A. Christie and the singinggroup leader Miss D. Williams. The leader of the piano group is to be chosen later.

The programme opened with vocal solos sung by Miss Steele. Her songs were: — “Ou Voulez-Vous Aller?” (Gounod), “Prayer to Our Lady” (Donald Ford), “When Daisies Pied” (Arne).

These were followed by gramophone records, “Brandenburg” concerto (Bach), three movements, played by Cortot and the Chamber Music Orchestra, and the record of a Afozart violin and piano sonata played by Yehudi and flepsibah Menuhin. At the conclusion of the evening supper was enjoyed by everyone.
