WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Federal Cabinet at Perth PERTH, Juno 25. Eight Federal Ministers, accompanied by 25 officials arrived here to conduct the first Federal Cabinet meeting ever held at Perth. The acting-Prime Minister, Dr. Earle Page, replying to the civic reception, said, “We have come to Western Australia on this occasion to try to learn where we may cure any defects that unfortunately have been apparent. Western Australia’s progress since the federation has been phenomenal, and 1 have every confidence in its future.” Dr. Page announced that he was submitting a scheme for co-operation between the Commonwealth and States in related activities conducted by different Governments. It was expansion of the Loan Council principle, proposing the formation of councils consisting of Ministers and departmental heads controlling different activities in order to develop them on a national basis.
