RADIO “UNCLE”

Well-Deserved Tribute FUNDS FOR THE HOSPITAL A gracious and well-deserved tribute to “Uncle Ed” (Mr E. 11. Culver) for his work in raising the funds which were used to install radio throughout tho Hastings Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, was paid by Mr G. A. Maddison. Mayor of Hastings, at the opening of the hospital additions by Sir Alexander Young yesterday afternoon. The set consists of head-phones t-o the total number of 78, besides six loudspeakers, and that equipment, with the addition of a piano, was provided out of the sum of £260 collected by the energy and enterprise of Mr Culver, said Mr Maddison. Mr Culver had played almost a lone hand in collecting the money, and the result of his work was that every patient was enabled to listen-in.

“On behalf of the people of Hastings,” said Mr Maddison. addressing Mr Culver, “I express their gratitude for that magnificent effort.”
