FORESTRY DAY
To-morrow (Saturday) a forestry day will bo held at Rissington Station, under the auspices of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society. This society has for the last few years striven zealously to promote the encouragement of forestry as being of the utmost importance, not only to the funning community, but to the whole Dominion. The very great importance of shelter belts for stock alone justifies the new impetus which has of late been given to tree-planting, but that, is only one of many advantages and benefits to be derived from a well Jaid-out plan of tree cultivation and forest conservation. Timber, for fencing posts, buildings, fencing, firewood and other uses is an asset to every farm, and treeplanting, wisely done, is of incalculable benefit, while the advantages of forest conservation in the back ranges for tho purposes of equalising the rainfall is now generally recognised. A systematic scheme of forestry for all purposes has been carried out on Risington Station for several years, and the forestry day to-murrow is for the purpose of demonstrating the outstanding value ."ml importance of this work, and all interested slimibl lake advantage of the opportunity of being present.
