A serious level-crossing accident occurred in West street at noon when a car driven by Mr. George Cooper, farmer, of Fitzherbert. was involved in a collision with the WellingtonNapier express. Air. Cooper was critically injured. He suffered a fractured skull. I'he force of the collision was such that the car was turned completely round, thrown over an adjoining set of i rails, and coinuletely wrecked. The 4 driver was thrown out of the vehicle.
