CONTROL OF BOXING
H.B. Executive Meets CONTES! IN VIEW A lull meeting of tho iiewly-appoiut-ed executive of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association was held in Hastings last evening, Mr. H. G. Apperley presiding over Messrs W. J. Baillie, A. Chote, H. Abbott, R. Gray, J. Dexter, L. de Lisle, D. H. Newbigin, L. J. Ik Hammond B. Shadbolt, J. D. Donovan and J. Stickland (lion, secretary). Mr. John Chambers wrote accepting the office of patron, and Mr. G. A. Maddison accepted that of vicepresident. Both forwarded donations to the association’s funds.—Letters of thanks ore to be sent to both donors. On behalf of the match committee, Mr. Baillie reported that both Stock (Napier) and Borcovsky (Marlborough) had agreed to meet at Hastings, but the sub-committee was awaiting further information from Borcovsky.— It was decided that a special meeting of the executive bo held next week upon receipt of a letter from Borcovsky.
Permission was granted for the Mahora schoolboys' tournament to be held to-morrow evening and tho following officials were appointed :—Referee, Mr. J. D. Donovan ; judges, Messrs. J. Dexter, and B. Shadbolt; announcer, Mr. H. Apperley; time-keeper, Mr. V. Collelo.
Tho financial position of the association was discussed and it was decided that Mr. L. de Lisle be appointed assistant treasurer, and that a finance committee be appointed comprising Messrs H. Abbott. J. D. Brown, L. de Lisle and J. Stickland. Mr. H. Abbott was appointed housemanager for such contests as may be staged this season.
The following new members were accepted:—Messrs. L. Hood, T. Hardy, R. Catherall, N. McFlynn, H. Thompson, H. Brinson and W. Davys.
