STORE CATTLE SALE
Values Fairly Steady Store cattle were in heavy supply at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge, when, with a steady demand, late rates were well maintained generally, with some lines appearing to sell at slightly enhanced values. Good lines of breeding cows were subject to a better inquiry, one pen making to £4 I/-, while several others made from £3 3/- upwards. Selected entries and prices paid are as follow: — A pen of 25 P.A. 3J-year steers, fairly grown and store conditioned, made £4 17/-. Eighty-two P.A. cows, run with pedigree P.A. bulls from October to December, well framed, nicely bred young cattle, in active store order, realised £3 12/6. Forty P.A. weaner steers, offered on account of Mr S. .Kelly, well grown and in good order, an attractive line, sold at £3. A draft of 65 Hereford bullocks, store conditioned and fairly framed, down by road from Gisborne, made £5 17/-. A line of 21 P.A. bullocks, medium framed, fresh conditioned, of good type, sold at £5 12/6. A Tangoio entry, on account of Mr H. Glazebrook, 20 Hereford 3J-year steers, carrying good store order and fairly grown, met the market at £4 17/6. A rising two-year-old line of 75 P.A. steers, well bred, quite well grown and in good order, realised £4 5/-. A Waiwaka entry of 25 dehorned Hereford eighteen-months heifers, well grown and in fresh condition, made £3 16/-. A Gisborne line of .16 dehorned Hereford bullocks, fairly framed and in good store order, sold at £5 16/-. Twelve P.A. and P.A.-Shorthorn crossbred cows, run with a P.A. bull, and down from Waikari, medium framed and store conditioned, made £2 13/-. A good line of 14 P.A. bullocks from a Wairoa vendor, medium framed and in fresh store order, sold at £5 18/6. Mixed in size and store conditioned, a pen of 19 Hereford bullocks made £5 7/6. Offered on account of Messrs McKay Bros.. Te Maire, a pen of 21 P.A. and I’.A.-Hereford cows, run with P.A. bulls, nicely grown cattle, in good order, i met the market at £4 1/-. I Fourteen P.A. eighteen-months steers, medium grown and fresh conditioned, realised £3 18/-. Twenty-one P.A. cows, run with P.A. bulls, medium framed and store conditioned, on account of a Waikari vendor, sold at £3 4/-. A further lino of 22 P.A. "1-yenr steers, on account of Mr 11.
