BIRD DROPS A SPOON
Those who are familiar with the old tag about those born with silver spoons in their mouths, will appreciate this one, which deals with silver spoons that drop from the skies. It is true that only a few days ago a lady who lives not far from the Napier Boys’ High School was doing a little gardening when something with a moderately sharp edge fell on her head, and to her astonishment she saw in front of her a silver apostle-spoon. She quickly looked up and saw a bird ot medium size winging its way towards a clump of trees. The spoon was good in quality—unfortunately for the owners, those which are missing generally are—and she need not f?ar the arrival of an unexpected guest at her afternoon-tea party Now she is pondering all the different species of bird which may have been responsible j for this gift from the clouds, but- as ' to finding the aphorism which de- , scribes the situation, she gave that up day e ago.
