OBITUARY

Mr. Robert Wilson, Senr.

WELL-KNOWN ORCHARDIST

The death of Mr Robert Wilson, senior of Pakowhai and Hastings, and a well-known early settler, occurred yesterday at the residence of his son, Mr R. Wilson, St. George’s road. Air Wilson was 87 years of age. The deceased, who was a retired orchardist, arrived in New Zealand in the sixties, and took up farming in the Otama district, Waimea, Southland. Later he followed the occupation of goldmining in the West Coast district of the South Island. He came to Hawke’s Bay some years ago, and became well-known as a successful orchardist.

He leaves one son, Mr R. Wilson, of St. George’s road, Hastings, and one daughter, Mrs W. H. Stew-art, of Martinborough, Wairarapa. The funeral will leave St. George’s road south for the Hastings cemetery to-morrow, Thursday, at 10.30 a.m.
