STORTFORD LODGE SALE Quality Female Lines Penned HEAVY FAT CATTLE ENTRY With a heavy entry of good quality generally, values came back gradually at to-day’s sale of fat cattle at Stortlord Lodge, being maintained at export rates during the final portion of the sale. Bullocks, which were in moderate supply, sold fairly steadily at rates on parity with to easier on late rates, but temale beef was more affected, and once butchering demand eased off, prices came back. Quality was a feature of the entry of tat cattle at to-day’s sale, the female beef on offer being the best that have been yarded for a number of years. The entry totalled 555 head, an<] included a number of big lines from Mr T. H. Lowry, Omarunui, Mr L. Melson, Whakamarumaru, .Mr Seton Wenley, Maraekakaho, and Mr C. Brou n, Maraetotara. As the sale progressed, demand slackened off, and passings became more frequent on lighter and inferior sorts of cows and heifers, while prices declined to a lesser degree on quality lines. A« will be seen from the following selection of prices realised, the top lines of cows and heifers were of splendid quality, meeting with keen competition. Selected entries and prices paid are as follow;— HEIFER RATES. A pair of P.A. heifers, big framed cattle, in prime order, passed at £6 17/6. A further three heifers, not quite so well grown, made £6 14/-. Offered on account of Mr L. Nelson, Whakamarumaru, two Hereford heifers, medium framed and finished, sold at £4 15/-. Two Shorthorn heifers, in the same pen, in similar order, made £4 15/-. A single Hereford heifer, fairly grown and prime, sold at £B 5/-. Two Hereford heifers, offered on account of Mr C. Brown, Maraetotara, medium framed and carrying medium finish, sold at £5 5/-. A pair of dehorned Hereford heifers, offered on account of the previous vendor, well grown and in medium prime order, made £6. A further two sold at £5 10/-. A single P.A. heifer, medium framed and prime, realised £6. In the same pen two bigger framed heifers, lightly finished, made £4 16/-. A Dartmoor station entry, a single P.A. heifer, big framed and prune heavy, of excellent quality, realised £6 14/-, a further two, smaller and lighter, making £5. Three Shorthorn heifers, on account of Dartmoor station, well framed and finished, sold at £5 11/-. Nine P.A. heifers, offered on account of Omarunui station, quite well grown, light to medium finished, made £5 8/and £4 12/- in cuts. Twelve dehorned Hereford heifers, on account of Mr Seton \\ enley, Maraetotara, medium to well framed, carrying medium to prime order, passed at £5 16/-. BULLOCK VALUES.

A single weighty P.A. crossbred bullock, big framed and prime, realised fc) 14/-. Three P.A. bullocks, well grown tattle, in prime order, sold out at £9 »/•• Two P.A. bullocks, medium framed and well finished, made £8 6/-. Four P.A. bullocks, nicely grown and medium finished, sold at £8 12/G. A small to medium framed pen of P.A. and Hereford bullocks, on account of a Maraetotara vendor, lightly covered, made £6 13/6 for one cut. the remainder passing at £5 5/- and £5 10/-.

Two medium framed blocky Here-ford-P.A. bullocks, on account of Mr. C. Brown, lightly finished, made £7 6/-. A single P.A. crossbred bullock, down from Ngaroto, well grown and well finished, sold at £9. An Omarunui entry, two P.A. bullocks, well grown and prime, realised £9 12/-, four more selling at £9 6/- and £9 8/6. A further pen from Oamarunul made £9 9/-, £9 and £8 12/6. Sir prime heavy P.A. bullocks, quality cattle, nicely grown, sold strongly at £9 19/-. COW PRICES. Two P.A. cows, well framed and prime, realised £5 14/-. A P.A.-Hereford crossbred cow, fairly cown and finished, sold at £4 15/-. Six P.A. cows, well grown cattle generally, earning medium finish, made £4 15/-. Five P.A. cows, blocky cattle, quite well grown, medium prime, realised £5 5/-.

Three P.A. cows, medium framed and lightly to medium finished, made £4 11/-.

Five prime heavy P.A.-Hereford cows, on account of Mr. L. Nelson, Whakamarumaru. well grown cattle, made £6 1/-, a further four selling at £5 16/-. Seven P.A. cows, fairlv grown, mixed in finish, realised £3 16/-. A further pen of Whakamarumaru eattle, on account of Mr. L. Nelson, sold at £6 2/- for three, four more making £5 17/6. A lino of 10 dehorned Hereford cows, fairly framed, carrying light to medium finish, medium to well framed, made £4 15/- and £4 3/6 in cuts. Two dehorned Hereford cows, offered on account of a Kahuranaki vendor, fairly grown and light to medium finished, sold at £4 12/6. Lighter cuts made £3 12/-. Offered on account of Mr. Seton Wenley, and in from Maraekakaho, 7 P.A. and P.A.-Hereford crossbred cows, well grown, quality cattle, in prime to prime heavy Order, realised £6 1/-, two lighter animals making £5 14/-.
