WEDDING

Hopcrolt—Lean

The wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hastings, this afternoon, of Myra Phyllis Ester, daughter of the late. Mr and Mrs Lean, of Pukahu, and William Edward, son of Mrs J. H. Hopcroft, of Poukawa.

The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Cecil Lean, wore a lovely gown of ivory needlerun lace, the skirt moulded to the figure and flaring very slightly from the knees. Tho corsage was finished with a square neck, and the sleeves were long and tight. At tho waist was a velvet belt finished in front with a diamante clasp. Ivory velvet shoes were worn. A veil of soft tulle was worn with a halo of orange blossom on tho head, and she wore tho bridegroom’s gilt, a crystal necklace. Her lovely arm-shower was compiosed of white lilies. The bridesmaid wae Miss Eileen McCormick. Her gown was of palest pink crepe-de-chine fashioned with a square neck finished with a silver and pink shoulder spray, and the sleeves were short and frilled. With her gown she wore a pink velvet cape lined with silver and finished with a large flat bow. Her pink crinoline picture hat was trimmed with silver, and her shoes were also of silver. Her gift from tho bridegroom was a pink crvetal necklace, and sho carried a pink and white bouquet. Miss Daphne Jury was flower-girl. Her long frock was also of crepe-de-chiue fashioned with frilled sleeves, the skirt finished with three frills. She wore a pink velvet cape, silver shoes, and a wreath of pink flowers, and a silver ribbon in her hair. She also wore the bridegroom’s gift, a pink crystal necklace, and carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Roy White, of Petone. Alter tho ceremony a reception was held at the Selphast tea-rooms, the guests being received by Mrs C. Lean, whose gown was of black marocain with trimmings in white. She wore a smart black hat. Mrs J. H. Hopcroft, mother of the bridegroom, also received tho guests. Several toasts were honoured and the bride cut the twotiered wedding cake, a gift from Mr lan Stevens.

The bride’s travelling suit was of green afghalaine and she wore a brown

hat and brown shoce and gloves. Mr and Mrs William Hopcroft will reside in Taradale. The guests were: Sir and Mrs E. McCormick, Mrs H. Lincoln, Mrs Long, Mrs Roche, Mrs Young, Mrs and Miss White, Mrs Lyons, Mrs Reps, Mi's Taylor, Mrs Saunders, Mrs Foss, Mrs Williams, Mrs Kingston, Misses Rennie, Condon, Carman, Orchard and others.
