HASTINGS CROQUET CLUB

Annual Meeting The eighth annual meeting of the Hastings Croquet Club was held in the Bowling Club pavilion on Tuesday, June 11. Mrs W. Bridgman presided over a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patrones#, Mrs J. Garnett; president, Mr H. PStratton; vice-president, Mrs J. B. Pickering; secretary, Mrs Buff; treasurer, Mrs Bennett; captain Mrs Watkins; vice-captain. Mis Aikens; committee, Mesdaines Petersen, King, Tomliiuon, (Haughton, and Miss Millichamp; delegate to the Hawkes Bay Croquet Association, Mrs Pitcaithley; selection committee, Mesdames Watkins, Tomlinson and Bennett; grounds committee, Mesdames Matkins and Tomlinson, and Miss Millichamp; tea committee, Mrs Haggerty and Miss Carrington; hon. auditor, Mr Newton, to whom a vote of thanks was passed for auditing the books. After fhe opening of the meeting the members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mrs E. McCombes, late member for Lyttelton.

The winners of the club competitions tvere: Croquet Council silver buttons, Mies Carrington (A grade), Mrs Arkens (B grade), Mrs Lowe (C grade); Bridgman gold button, B grade, Mrs Bennett. Mrs Bennett has won the button twice in succession, mid it now becomes her own. The Hastings club won the pt nnant for the A grade inter-club competition, also that for the B grade and the Watkins Shield.
