Takanini Motor Smash DIOMEDE NAVAL RATING (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 18. Mr Alfred John Francis Whitehouse, aged 29, single, a naval rating on the Diomede, died in hospital this morning of injuries he received when a car he was driving collided with a truck at Takanini yesterday morning. Ths' condition of Miss Florence JVigmore is still serious. Mr Whitehouse suffered a compound fracture of the skull, a fractured arm and severe burns to the back and legs. Miss Wigmore, who is 20 years of age, suffered a fractured skull and concussion, and the remaining victim of the accident, Miss Judith Blake, aged 19, superficial cuts and concussion. Miss Blake's condition is not serious. BILLY MURPHY INJURED Former World Boxing Champion ( JRy Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 18. Knocked down by a motor-cycle last night, Mr Thomas William Murphy lies seriously injured in the Auckland Hospital. Better known as Billy Murphy, ho is the only native New Zealander who ever held a world professional boxing title. 11c is 74 years of age. MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED - (By Telegraph—Pre*a Association.) PALMERSTON N., June 18. Fatal injuries were suffered by a motor-cyclist, Mr Alfred Parker, aged 65, of Makino, in a collision with a motor truck proceeding in the same direction on the Feilding-Taonui road laet evening. Rain was falling when the accident occurred.
