PUKEORA SANATORIUM

Concert by “Double Four”

During the week-end the members of “The Double Four” concert party of Hastings presented a special concert to the patients of the I’ukeora Sanatorium, and for a full two hours the patients so thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment that at the end they gave three very hearty cheers*for the entertainers and freely issued an invitation to come again and to come soon. In fact, the audience were unanimous in their opinion that they had witnessed probably the finest entertainment ever given at the Sanatorium. The programme went with a leal professional swing and was full of merry comedy, exciting and thrilling sketches, novelty numbers and solo items, the whole being presented with very fine effects in the company’s own costuming, settings and lighting. The applause ior every turn of this firstclass variety entertainment was absolutely spontaneous and at times double encores were the order.

At the conclusion, Dr. McLean returned thanks on behalf of the patients and he expressed the hope that “The Double Four” would return with their new programme and it they did they could be assured that “standing room only” would be the order in the hall.

The visitors were entertained at supper by the nursing staff and the evening was so worth while that the entertainers promised a return visit at the earliest opportunity
