NAPIER CHESS CLUB
Visit of Rev. N. A. Friberg The weekly meeting of the Napier Chess Club at the Thirty Thousand Club rooms on Thursday night was made interesting with the precenee of the Rev. N. A. Friberg, a well-known New Zealand Chess Congress player and an old member of tho Napier club. He played a number of frienuly games and gave members some helpful advice upon chess strategy. He was made a life member of tho club. Good progress has been made with the handicap tournament, the result* of games played during the last fortnight being as follow :—Scott beat Couch: Blundell beat Gair; Blown beat Couch ; Lydford beat Earney; Lydford beat Barker; Nedd drew with Scott; Piruni beat Neilson; Earney beat Fraser, Gair beat Callaghan; Lydford beat Scott; Couch drew with Barker; Blundell beat Pirani; Blundell beat Callaghan; Pirani beat Fraser. Two further ladder matches have been played, Scuff deleatmg Neild and Blundell winning from Callaghan.
