CORNWALL PARK

Ploughing of Playing Area* REMOVAL OF TENNIS COURTS In the near future the sports bodies using Cornwall Park, Hastings—namely, the Hastings Cricket SubAssociation, the Hockey Sub-Associa-tion, the Football Association, and the Park Tennis Club, will be asked by the Borough Council to agree to changes whereby the Tennis Club will be provided with courts elsewhere, probably at Nelson Park, and whereby the Football Association, the Hockey Sub. Association, and the Cricket SubAssociation will be required to use temporary grouuus on some other reserve. The council hopes to close down the tennis courts as soon as possible, for it considers that in the summer time, when they are usually bare of grass, they constitute an eyesore, especially by reason of the fact that they are close to the main entrance. The council’s reason for proposing the other changes mentioned is that it is hoped to plough the sward on which football, hockey and cricket are played, and to sow it in new grass in tho autumn. If that were done, it would be impossible to allow the ground to be played on in the following winter.
