Hastings Branch’s Meeting
There was the usual good attendance of members at the secretary’s residence for the fortnightly meeting of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand DX Radio Association. Various matters were discussed and conditions reported upon. Several designs for the proposed branch stationery were examined and the entry of Mr J. Catberall was voted the best.
Members reported that the logging of South American stations was still possible, while North Americans were not so good. Australian B stations were fair, but the V-K. amateurs not very noticeable as yet. A discussion arose as to the advisability of printing the addresses of radio stations in the radio calls, but it was deemed unnecessary. The various club competitions were Well contested and some good entries Were noticed. The Wireless Service Co. Cup was won by Mr _N. Mulgrove, R.A. 740, with 15 entries. The best rectification for the meeting was 3BA Ballarat, presented by Mr J. Turcich, R.A. 491. The best verification in the zones resulted: New Zealand. Mr N. Mulgrove, R.A. 740, 4ZM; Australia, Mr J. Turcich, R.A. 491. 3BA Ballarat; America, Mr J. Walter, R.A. 109, XELO; most verifications for the meeting, Mr Mulgrove, eight. Readers are informed that the Australian amateurs (VK) are broadcasting special tests for the New Zealand DX Radio Association on the night of Sundy, June 2, from 11710 p.m. onwards. New frequencies for the Australian stations are: 1110 k.c., 2UW; 1120, 4BC- 1130, 6ML; 1140. 2HD; 1150, 2WG- 1160, 4MK; 1170, 4TO; 1180. 3KZ1190, 2CH; 1200.
