SHEEP DOG TRIALS
Makotuku Club’s Meeting From Our Own Correspondent. MAKOTUKU, May 24. At the sheep-dog trials the class for long head and yard was finished on Thursday in most inclement weather. Several dogs refused to work at all. One followed his owner to the starting point, hut then whistled to begin his work, turned tail and made for his owner’s car, into which he scrambled, refusing to budge. The following are the results to date- - Long Head and Yard (Open).—C. W. Thom's Vick, 45 points, 1; J. Sutherland’s Pride. 44}. 2: George Lang s Flash. 43J, 3; G. McGavcstion's I acc 43 4. Maiden Long Head and Yard.—K. F. McAulev’s Ted. 45} points. 1; G. Lang's Flash, 43}, 2; J. McGavcstion’s Lace, 13, 3; G Berkahn’e Boy, 42, 4. It was unfortunate for Mr .McAuley
that he had only entered his dog in the Maiden Class as had it been entered in the Open Class also it would have won the cup. A dance was held in the evening in connection with the trials, which was a great success considering the unfoiunate weather conditions. Over £S was taken at the door and a most enjoyable evening was spent.
