As a result of the permanent appointment of Mr J. Miller, S.M., t« the Napier Magistrate’s Court circuit, the old system, in which police cases are taken on Mondays and civil matter on Tuesday, has been reinstated. It was put into practice for the first time yesterday. Court days at Hastings will, as usual, be Wednesdays, when both civil and police cases will be taken. Since the retirement of Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M., tho Napier circuit has been served by relieving magistrates, and for a long time past Napier baa had to dispose of all its business, both police and civil, on throne day, Tuesdays.
