PILSUDSKI’S BRAIN
Bequeathed for Research (Received 14, 12.10 p.m.) WARSAW, May 13. According to the late Marshal Pilsudski’s desire, his brain will be given to the Polish universities for research and his heart is being buried with his mother’s remains, which will be reinterred at Vilna, Marshal Pilsudski’s birthplace. The body, embalmed, will rest at Vavel Castle, Cracow, beside Poland’s great kings and patriots, including Kosciusck o . The Government has decreed national mourning. The president has issued a manifesto describing Marshal Pilsudski as the greatest man in Polish jgistory and who created the Polish State army. Herr Hitler has telegraphed his sympathy, paying tribute I 'to Marshal Pilsudski’s services for the pacification of Europe. Berlin newspapers speculate on the effects of his death on Polish foreign policy. They are afraid it will weaken Polish-German understanding. [Earlier cable appears on page 9.]
