DENTAL CLINIC
, Meeting of Committee The annual meeting of the Hastings Dental Clinic Committee was held in the council chambers on Friday. The chairman, Mr. G. McCormick, in his report, pointed out the good work the clinic was doing in the matter of child welfare assistance, and stated that the nurses had given 5529 treatments for the period under review. These treatments had consisted of 4236 fillings and 1293 extractions. Mr. McCormick also pointed out that .1 number of parents whose children had been treated last year had not as yet paid the fee for the current year, thus holding up the work of the nurses. He stated that the Department of Health had issued instructions that for the future any child who misses paying one year’s fee after enrolment, whether needing treatment or only revision, will bo struck off tbe clinic roll, and not again bo eligible for treatment.
In order to give parents every opportunity to pay the necessary amount or make arrangements, it was decided to extend the closing date for payments to May 31. 1935.
Any parents wishing to have their children treated free at the clinic must make application through their school committees, who will in turn pass such application on to the clinic committee with their recommendations of each case on its merits.
The committee took the opnortunit' of thanking the nurses for their good work during the year, and the headmasters for their kind co-operation and assistance.
